Sustainable choice: labels of recycled polyester

It's Lightyear's goal to deisgn clean mobility for everyone. Lightyear One is an electric car that charges itself with the sun. Depending on the climate the cars can drive up to 20.000 km per year, using only sunlight. Of course Lightyear choose the most sustainable option for their labels: made of recycled polyester and produced locally.

Nature as biggest source of inspiration

Lightyear was started by graduates of the Solar Team Eindhoven, from the Technical University in Eindhoven. They won the Bridgestone World Solar Challenge in 2013, 2015, and 2017. The design of Lightyear One started on a blank page. CEO Lex Hoefsloot says: "We were not influenced by conventional car design, but lead by the Laws of Nature". For many years we have lived in balance with nature. Technology of today offers the possibility to do this again. We started with a clean shit and took the laws of nature as our starting point. The nature is our biggest inspiration in developing an ultra-efficient design".

Continue where others stop

This resulted in a car that makes most of every sun beam. Hoefsloot: "The most important goal is that we continue where conventional electric cars stop."
